Derby Reportage (Active Reading Notes)

disorganized with no evident theme

font appears to be that of a typewriter so letters being close and apart may be evident to a mechanical error

almost immediately after every break he puts himself into the article saying things such as "I got off the plane..." or "I took the expressway..." and "...I was awakened..." all within the first few words

no more points stuck out to me very much
maybe a second pass...

Johnny Cyberpunk

Johnny Mnemonic is considered postmodern and as cyberpunk for using sci-fi and randomized objects and people. In a nutshell, the story is about a man, Johnny, who rents out storage in his head for people to store information. He goes to another person, Ralfi, because he owes him money and he is planning to kill him. Shortly after, Johnny and Molly go see the Lo-Teks (who are against the use of technology) and attempt to retrieve the information as blackmail. Johnny gets his wish of being able to retain only his memories and no one else's information.

MAP

Ernest Hemingway was born in Oak Park, Illinois on July 21 1899. Hemingway was a Journalist and an author who was inspired by modernist authors of the time. Hemingway was injured during his service as an ambulance driver during WW1 and as a result, was sent home. Some of his hobbies included hunting and fishing. However, possibly from his war experiences, Hemingway was an alcoholic who tried to take his own life on multiple occasions.

MAP Plan (The Making Of)

For my modernist author project I'm planning on doing either a prezi or a blog essay. I'm leaning towards a blog essay because then I will be able to structure it more easily, but still be able to cite many sources through the use of hyper-links. Prezi may also prove to be a valuable project asset if I so choose to use it for this assignment. Most likely I will be beginning the project with Matt Reynolds later this week.

I AM HERE (and there, and everywhere)

I have made progress on my SMART goal, to keep up with the class. My time "away" has proven itself a bump in this endeavor. Nonetheless, I am still determined for the remainder of this grading period and semester to continue working towards my SMART goal. As for my big question, senior project, resource networks, etc; I have made little to no progress on these projects, sadly. I barely grasp the idea so I require some measure of assistance to complete these assignments.

Essay Post Analysis

In the essay in class, I thought I did well under the circumstances. Definitely a challenge going into it, but once the thoughts started flowing, I was firing away. I think I would deserve a B, because my essay had good thought, but was poorly put together...
